How to Explain What You Want to Someone

Sometimes we communicate to people precisely what we want

And yet, it doesn’t register in their brain.

Does that make them stupid for not being on the same page as you?

We end up putting them down.

Instead of attempting to fix them, we can fix our approach

So we can communicate better, period.

Imagine a “Beam Scale.”

On one end, you explain what you DON’T WANT.

Exaggerate this scenario if you must.

On the other end, explain what you DO WANT.

Exaggerate this, if needed.

As everyone weighs differently,

You cannot set your “point", dead center, for everyone.

No matter how “clear” you think you are.

Allow your audience to find the “sweet spot.”

When they figure it out themselves,

This is when the scale becomes balanced.

Trust them to figure it out.

You’ll make them smarter this way.
