The Story Behind the “Praying Hands” Painting

This is the story of 2 brothers, Albrecht and Albert.

Coming from a large and impoverished family,

Both brothers had a dream to attend art school.

They only had enough funds to support one.

They flipped a coin and the loser would work in the mines to support the brother.

Albrecht went to school and became a huge success.

He came back to celebrate with his entire family.

At the dinner table, Albrecht proposed a toast to his beloved brother.

"Albert, now it is your turn.

You can pursue your dream, and I will take care of you."

Albert stood up with tears and exclaimed his fingers have been damaged and cannot hold a paintbrush and that it was too late for him.

Albrecht paid homage to his brother by drawing Albert’s abused hands.

No one ever makes it alone.
